Types of Rejection You’ll Encounter In Your Life

“You can’t please everyone. The best thing you can do is just to believe  in yourself and do what you think is right for you.”

In life, most people have been trained to follow the norms and trends that have been set by the society. There is an intense need to follow the society’s standard or else face rejection from the society. People will start ignoring you as if you doesn’t exist. Rejection alone is painful and a downright traumatizing to experience. As such, when you cannot avoid rejection, the best thing you can do is to deal with it by being prepared to counter it.

But how can you identify the rejections that come in life? Here are the types of rejection you can expect in your life. Ensure you are prepared for them.

 Job interview

job

This type of rejection is pretty standard. It’s normal, and you can’t do anything about it. You arrive early for a job interview while dressed in your best attire, and you answer all the questions as best as you can. However, with all the other applicants also applying for the same position, it is evident that someone will be rejected or qualified. While we know it hurts to be rejected (especially since your opportunity to earn income will be cut), we recommend that you don’t take it personally.

The truth is, the HR or employers are not rejecting you because you’re not good. It’s just that your skills may not be a match to their job descriptions. However, that does not make your skills and ability any less. So if you encounter this type of rejection, just take a deep breath, accept and move on. There are still many companies who need your skills out there. Maybe you’re just not destined for your preferred employer, but a great company is out there waiting for you to become a part of their team!

 Social/Meeting New People

Let’s say you passed the job interview stated above, or you’re visiting a new place or hanging out with new people. Socializing can be a challenging activity. For one, you don’t know anything about the other person, so you can’t determine how can to interact with them. You may feel compelled to impress these people so as to be a part of their inner circle. While you’re eager to meet new people and interact with them, we advise you not to overdo it. Doing so may backfire on you, and these new people might ignore you.

Keep in mind that like you, they’re also wary and shy to interact with new people. That is why you should try to tone it down. You can have a civil and formal conversation with them, but just be with yourself so that they can know the real you. Once you’re both comfortable enough, you may establish a long-lasting friendship.

 Romance or Dating

We all encounter rejection especially when it comes to relationships. It may be that the woman you’re courting on isn’t in love with you, or that someone called it quits and left you hanging in the middle of your blossoming relationship. We understand that it hurts to be rejected by your loved one but in time, the wounds in your heart will heal and you will move on. Just think of it as an opportunity to seek the one that’s really meant for you.

 Relationship with CoWorkers

Another type of rejection you may find yourself dealing with is within your working environment. Be mindful that not all your co-workers will treat you well. Some will treat you badly and even bully you, especially if you’re still a newbie. This usually happens if your still new to the company and yet you’re already giving out an outstanding performance, thereby surpassing their years of service. They will try everything in their power to bring you down through rejection.

But that’s okay. As we said, you don’t need to please everyone. As long as your employer, clients, and customers are satisfied with your work, you have nothing to worry about. You’ve already played your part to make amends with them and if they still don’t like you, there’s nothing you can’t do. And besides, don’t mind them. You are there to work and earn money to pay your bills, and that’s what matters the most.
