Seeing as being an athlete is quite taxing on your body, these people often have to retire young. Not all athletes are able to live from their prize money for the rest of their lives, so some have to resort to selling their medals. Joe Greene, nicknamed Jumpin’ Joe, won two Olympic medals during his sporting career. When he came close to bankruptcy, he visited the pawn shop to sell his precious medals. Greene got $30K for them, which should help him out financially. Luckily, the shop isn’t selling them, but only keeping them on display.
