Women might stop going to the hair salon for example, or decide to stop exercising. Men also can unconsciously stop caring for how they look as time goes by. However, sometimes these changes are so progressive that they’re difficult to notice. This is the story of Jeffrey Schultz, who slowly let his appearance change to the point where he was unrecognizable from the picture his wife Lori had from their younger years. The Face Behind the Hair

Jeffrey Schultz found himself letting his hair and beard grow after reaching the point where most men have a midlife crisis. Instead of getting a sports car or getting involved with a younger woman—like the midlife clichés go, he just toned down his personal care routine…to the extreme. Little by little, his hair and beard kept growing, and growing, and growing, without him taking much care of either. His wife and life partner, Lori, decided that enough was enough and urged him to do something about it. However, Jeffrey was very reluctant.

Digging Into the Past

One day, Jeffrey’s mother-in-law was doing some in-depth cleaning of the attic and she actually found an old photo of Jeffrey. What the camera had captured was a totally different man. Of course, people change as they age. But in Jeffrey’s case, he was simply unrecognizable. According to his wife, Lori, he looked like he could be in the show called Duck Dynasty. After all, everyone has a long-haired look in that show! Things were about to change for Jeffrey as his wife and mother-in-law pushed him to do something about his looks.

Although it’s fairly usual that people tend to gain weight and leave their healthy diet when they get married, for Lori, her husband had just changed too much. What had started as a clean beard was now an unkempt one that covered her husband’s face almost completely. This was way beyond any normal changes in marriage. And although Jeffrey’s look had become a normal thing for the couple, realizing how much he had changed really put things into perspective. It was time for a change, and they needed some extra help.
