Vanessa Williams Thought She Was Fired Due To Prejudice
Williams portrayed the character of dancer Rhonda Blair, who only appeared in the first season of the show. However, she always thought that the team behind the show didn’t make an effort to write properly about an African-American character. At that time, the show was getting into the intimate relationships of the characters and Williams thought that when someone jumped in bed with a black woman, it would receive mixed comments. It was unfortunate for her not to be invited back for the second season since the paycheck was actually good but Williams knew it was no longer about her work.
