Julie Christie, the British movie legend often called the most poetic of all actresses, was born in India. She made her debut in the science-fiction television series A for Andromeda. In her first comedy film Crooks Anonymous she played a girlfriend, which was followed up by a more prominent ingénue role in another comedy, The Fast Lady. Christie is the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Christie is famous for often playing women’s roles who inspire great passion in all the male characters rotating around her. She is active in various causes, including animal rights and environmental protection.
