Sono Osato – Age 99
Sono Osato is of Japanese and European descent, but she was born and raised in America. Her Japanese father and Irish-French Canadian mother worked as the caretakers of the Phoenix Pavilion and the Japanese garden there. Sono began her career at 14 as a dancer, with the Ballets Ruse de Monte-Carlo, later on occasionally appearing in movies and TV shows such as The Adventures of Ellery Queen. She was married to Victor Elmaleh, a real estate developer since 1943 to 2014 which ended with his passing and Sono is the founder of the Sono Osato Scholarship Program which is aimed at helping former dancers with their finances.
