Richard White – 75 Years
Dr. Richard White is a professor in the Department Of American History at Stanford University, specializing primarily in Western history but also paying attention to environmental and Native American themes that pertain throughout nearly all time periods within the country’s existence as well-from colonial days up until now!
His most recent work was Railroaded: The Transcontinentals And Making Modern America (2011), which focused on how construction work for railroads helped shape what we know today about America–both good times like economic productivity; bad moments such as governmentality during the late 19th century. Richard has received the Mellon Distinguished Professor Award and is a MacArthur Fellow. His work has received numerous academic honors.
