Il a marqué les esprits pour ses rôles mythiques dans le film « Le Hot-Dog » ou encore la série « Radio Enfer ». L’acteur a réussi à perdre 40 livres en 5 mois. Il a considéré cette perte de poids comme une grande victoire. Lors d’une interview avec le magazine Echos, Michel Charrette a confié qu’il n’existait pas de recette miracle pour perdre du poids et qu’il a dû s’entraîner durement pour y arriver. Ainsi, il a dû faire de la randonnée, soulevé des haltères et coupé ses portions de deux tiers.
