Devenue mère à seulement 15 ans et grand-mère à 33 ans, Mama June a lutté pendant près de dix ans pour perdre le poids de la grossesse. Mais la star de la téléréalité n’avait pas le surpoids comme seul ennemi, elle a également lutté contre le diabète pendant des années. En suivant un régime strict, Mama June a réussi à perdre 45 kilos. Elle a décidé de ne plus boire de soda et le remplacer par de l’eau. Si auparavant, elle avait l’habitude de manger des aliments cuits au four et une grande quantité de poulet, elle a tout remplacé par des cubes de fromage et des raisons.
