Anja Schüte war schon vor ihrer Rolle bei den „Wichters von nebenan“ bekannt beim Publikum. Sie spielte von 1980 bis 1986 in insgesamt neun Kinofilmen, bis sie dann später die Rolle der adligen „Ulrike von Strelenau“ übernahm. Schüte spielte nach der Serie unter anderem drei Jahre lang bei der ZDF-Serie „Forsthaus Falkenau“ und in zwei Episoden des „Traumschiffs“. Allerdings blieben für Schüte die großen Rollen auf, bis auf einige Fernsehfilme wie „Rosamunde Pilcher“ und einige Serienauftritte. Aus ihrer Ehe mit Schlägersänger Roland Kauser hat sie einen Sohn. Ihr Vermögen wird auf rund 6,5 Millionen Euro geschätzt.
