Jens Riewa actually wanted to be an air traffic controller, but by chance he was discovered as a speaker because of his unmistakable voice. He quickly got hold of his first moderation jobs on radio and TV. The moderator then took the next step in his career in the early 1990s. He first landed at the ARD as an off-speaker for the “Tagesschau”, but quickly worked his way up to the on-speaker. In 1995 he started speaking the 8 p.m. edition of the “Tagesschau”. In addition, since 2012 he has been the news man for the “Hamburg Journal”, the regional magazine of the NDR. Riewa earns 274.39 euros with a main edition. But if the show is shorter, his salary will also decrease. He earns around 8,000 euros a month.
