Seit 1994 ist Sandra Maischberger mit Jan Kerhart verheiratet. Kennengelernt haben sie sich bei den Dreharbeiten für eine Reportage. Es wurde aus dem gemeinsamen Zusammenarbeiten mehr und nun haben Sandra Maischberger und ihr Mann Jan Kerhart im vorletzten Jahr Silberhochzeit gefeiert. Man hat Maischberger in einem Interview nach dem Geheimnis ihrer langen Ehe gefragt. Ein Grund für ihre lange Ehe sei „Liebe und Respekt“, aber für Sandra Maischberger gibt es noch einen anderen Grund. So sagte sie: „Wir können auch sehr gut leidenschaftlich miteinander streiten und uns dann aber wieder finden. […] Man sollte nicht bei jedem Konflikt das Gefühl haben, der Boden, auf dem man gemeinsam steht, ist wackelig.“
