Der Weg nach Hollywood war bei ihr alles andere als der klassische „Ich ziehe nach L.A. und werde entdeckt“-Plan. In ihren frühen 20ern stand sie erst mal am Spielfeldrand, als Cheerleaderin der San Francisco 49ers, und genau dort wurde sie überhaupt erst wahrgenommen. Danach ging es Schritt für Schritt Richtung Kamera, bis sie schließlich als Bond-Girl in Tomorrow Never Dies auftauchte. Viele kennen sie aber vor allem aus Lois & Clark: The New Adventuers of Superman und natürlich aus Desperate Housewives, wo sie längst TV-Geschichte geschrieben hat.
Heute ist sie 55 und wirkt immer noch so, als hätte sie einen direkten Draht zur Zeitmaschine. Klar, Komplimente und Fans gibt es da weiterhin genug. Und das angebliche „Geheimnis“ hinter dem Look klingt überraschend unspektakulär: Anti-Aging-Creme. Kein Hokuspokus, kein Zaubertrank, einfach konsequente Pflege. Passt irgendwie zu ihr, bodenständig, aber mit diesem kleinen Hollywood-Glanz, der nie ganz verschwindet.
