Barbi Benton war in den 60ern so etwas wie ein wandelnder Popkultur-Moment, und ihre Playboy-Auftritte machten sie praktisch über Nacht zum weltweiten Gesprächsthema. Klar, das Aussehen war ein Teil der Story, aber damit wird man ihr nicht gerecht. Sie startete als Model, hatte aber auch den Kopf für ganz andere Dinge und schloss erst einmal ihr Tiermedizin-Studium an der UCLA ab. Später legte sie mit Musik nach und landete damit den Höhepunkt ihrer Bekanntheit. Irgendwann zog sie sich bewusst aus dem Rampenlicht zurück und setzte den Fokus lieber auf ihr Privatleben und ihre Familie.
Heute ist sie über 70, und trotzdem gilt: Wenn sie irgendwo in der Nähe eines roten Teppichs auftaucht, wirkt es oft so, als würde der Rest kurz leiser werden. Diese Mischung aus Glamour, Talent und einem ziemlich souveränen Rückzug hat einfach Stil.
