Lange wirkten die beiden wie das Paradebeispiel für eine TV-Romanze, die ins echte Leben geschafft hatte. Alles startete 2011 vor laufenden Kameras, als sie in der achten Staffel von Deutschland sucht den Superstar gegeneinander antraten und sich verliebten. 2013 folgte die Hochzeit, und mit der Geburt ihres Sohnes Alessio 2015 schien das Happy End perfekt. Als junge Familie waren sie allgegenwärtig, gefeiert und von vielen als Dreamteam angesehen.
Doch wie oft trügte der Schein. Im Oktober 2016 wurden Trennungsgerüchte bestätigt; bald darauf trennten sie sich offiziell. In Interviews gab Sarah offen zu, dass sich ihre Prioritäten geändert hatten. Die große Liebesgeschichte endete 2019 vor Gericht mit der Scheidung. Beide blieben weiter im Rampenlicht, auch wenn das Kapitel abgeschlossen war.
