La Lollo era talmente amata che, dopo averla vista in un film italiano, il miliardario Howard Hughes fosse volato da Hollywood per vederla, ma questa visita non la fece trasferirsi negli Stati Uniti. Gina rimase in Italia e nel 1949 sposò un medico sloveno dal quale avrebbe avuto un figlio, ma la coppia finì per divorziare. Infine, qualche anno dopo, Gina arrivò a Hollywood sotto contratto con Hughes, ma parlava a malapena inglese e dopo sei settimane tornò a casa sentendosi “permanentemente osservata”. La Lollo sta avendo qualche problema legale ma è ancora una donna dal grande fascino.
