The bear turned again, its massive frame shifting calmly back toward the trees. Once more, it walked with a purpose no one else could see. Hana glanced at Steve, dirt clinging to his jacket, hands scraped raw from his fall. He said nothing more, but his presence steadied her.
They followed the creature deeper, each step carrying them into darker ground where the trees pressed close. The air felt different here, thicker, charged with meaning. Questions burned on her tongue, but none left her mouth. The silence carried weight, a sense that words would break something delicate. Together they kept walking, pulled forward into the mystery.
