Matt Lauer – $36 Million, The Hamptons
Matt Lauer was so enchanted by the sheer beauty of the 12-bed, 12-bath sprawling mansion of Richard Gere in Hamptons that he even jettisoned two other Hampton properties to snatch this one. Matt eventually paid almost half the actual price and rumor has it that Richard Gere had to cut the asking price at least thrice as Matt was quite unwilling to take out a home loan. We also heard that Gere was struggling to sell the mansion and even hired four real estate agents to get a good price. While we can guess that Gere might not be too pleased with the price offered by Matt, he had to let it go finally as he was not getting a good price for it. The mansion sprawls over an area of 6.2 acres and comes with a private beach and a long private dock too. Good bargain, Matt!
