Chaz Bono siempre se ha estado en el punto de mira de la opinión pública debido a sus cuestiones personales y a sus problemas de peso. Si bien de niño no era fanático de las dietas, se vio obligado a seguir dietas estrictas en ese entonces. Aunque engordó y llegó a pesar unos 250 kilos en su momento de mayor peso, pudo cambiar su imagen.
El aumento de peso y la sensación de no sentirse en forma lo afectaron y lo hicieron plantearse cambios en su estilo de vida. Ahora, la estrella, pesa 36 kilos menos gracias a la cirugía de bypass gástrico y a unos mejores hábitos alimenticios.
