Côté vie privée, il est marié à Dany Saval depuis 1973. Tout comme son époux, Dany est douée dans divers domaines. Elle est connue pour avoir de multiples talents. L’ancienne danseuse et actrice a rencontré Michel grâce à l’aide de Claude François. Les deux amoureux ne se sont plus quittés depuis. Dany était déjà connue avant de rencontrer Michel : « Elle avait déjà fait trente films, moi, j’étais un petit gars de province. »
