Fabien Roussel est à la tête du Parti communiste français (PCF) en tant que secrétaire national, fonction qu’il occupe depuis 2018. Il exerce également un mandat de député à l’Assemblée nationale, représentant la 20ème circonscription du Nord depuis son élection le 21 juin 2017. Avant d’accéder à ces responsabilités nationales, sa carrière avait débuté dans le domaine du conseil en communication
Dès 1997, il est conseiller auprès de Michelle Demessine, alors secrétaire d’État chargée du Tourisme au sein du gouvernement français. Son parcours professionnel le conduit ensuite à collaborer avec des personnalités politiques comme Jean-Jacques Candelier et Alain Bocquet. En ce qui concerne sa rétribution mensuelle, il est indiqué qu’elle se situerait aux alentours de 15 200 euros.
