Laurent Jacobelli, une figure familière de la vie publique en France dont la famille est d’origine italienne, s’est d’abord engagé aux côtés de Nicolas Dupont-Aignan en 2014. Sous l’étiquette Debout la France, il a concouru aux élections régionales tenues en décembre 2015 dans la région Grand Est
Il officialise sa rupture avec ce mouvement le 19 mai 2017. Dès le mois de juin suivant, le Front national l’investit comme candidat pour les élections législatives de la 10e circonscription des Bouches-du-Rhône. Il obtient un score de 21,88% au premier tour contre 41,73% au second. Le Rassemblement national le nomme ensuite responsable de la communication en novembre 2017. L’estimation de sa fortune actuelle est de 1 à 5 millions d’euros.
