Weltbekannt wurde Anders als ein Teil des Gesangsduos Modern Talking in dem er zusammen mit Dieter Bohlen um die Welt tourte, er ist aber auch seit geraumer Zeit äußerst erfolgreich als Solo-Künstler auf der Erfolgsspur. Als bis heute einziger internationaler Star, trat Anders elfmal im historischen Moskauer Kreml auf.
Sein Sohn Alexander Mick Weidung (15) ist sein äußerliches Ebenbild. Der Sohnemann des Sängers hat noch nicht soviel Erfolg wie sein Vater, ist aber zumindest was die Körpergröße betrifft schon über ihn hinausgewachsen. Es ist Thomas sehr wichtig, dass sich Alexander beruflich anderweitig entwickelt. In einem Interview gestand er, dass er „alles dafür tun würde, dass er nicht den gleichen Weg geht“.
