Bereits in den 90ern hat sie sich geoutet vor anderen Promis aber wirklich zu ihrer Sexualität stand sie erst in ihrer Autobiografie im Jahr 2011. 2018 heiratete sie die Fotografin Bettina Flitner, die beiden wohnen inzwischen seit Jahren zusammen und arbeiten sogar gemeinsam. Trotz den fast 20 Jahren Altersunterschied zur jüngeren Bettina, ist diese anscheinend ihre große Liebe.
