Die Augen der Schauspielerin sind ihr Markenzeichen, ihre Filmliste ist lang: Vera Tschechowa 81 ist Jahre alt. 1962 erhielt sie für die Böll-Verfilmung “Das Brot der frühen Jahre” den Bundesfilmpreis. Schon seit mehreren Jahren steht Vera Tschechowa lieber hinter als vor der Kamera, porträtierte ihre Filmkollegen wie Katja Riemann, Klaus Maria Brandauer und Michael Ballhaus. Nun macht sie eine “schöne Pause”, da sie schon ihr ganzes Leben gearbeitet habe. Sie mag es gerne zu Lesen, etwa den Amerikaner Louis Begley oder über eine Weltreise zu Nobelpreisträgern.
