Angela Merkel und Joachim Sauer
Angela Merkel prägte die Weltpolitik wie kaum eine andere – doch privat setzte sie auf Beständigkeit. Seit 1998 ist sie mit dem renommierten Quantenphysiker Joachim Sauer verheiratet, den sie bereits an der Universität kennenlernte. Während Merkel als Kanzlerin Geschichte schrieb, hielt sich Sauer bewusst im Hintergrund. Dennoch war er stets an ihrer Seite und unterstützte sie aus der zweiten Reihe. Über ihr Privatleben drang nur wenig nach außen, doch ihre Ehe galt immer als harmonisch und stabil. In einem seltenen Interview betonte Sauer einmal seinen Stolz auf seine Frau. Heute genießen sie gemeinsam den wohlverdienten Ruhestand – fernab des politischen Trubels, aber eng verbunden.
