Tim machte eine wichtige Entdeckung. Unter den Blättern am Boden fand er Fußspuren von Menschen. Aber das war noch nicht alles. Am Baum sah er kleine Kratzer, die nur von Werkzeugen kommen konnten. Jemand hatte hier absichtlich rumgewerkelt. Jetzt war Tim sicher: Er war einer großen Sache auf der Spur.
Plötzlich ergab alles einen Sinn. Die Schatten und Geräusche, von denen die Leute erzählt hatten. Sogar die Lichter, die Tim abends im Park gesehen hatte. Es sah ganz danach aus, als hätte jemand die Vögel gestört. Aber wer? Und warum? Tim wollte es unbedingt herausfinden. Er würde nicht aufgeben, bis er wusste, was hier los war.
