Tijdens de opnames van de komische film The Money Pit werd acteur Tom Hanks verliefd op het historische landhuis dat een prominente rol in de productie speelde. Het pand, gebouwd in 1898 aan het einde van het koloniale tijdperk, ademt nog altijd grandeur met zijn imposante 1.400 vierkante meter woonoppervlak. Samen met zijn vrouw Rita Wilson besloot Hanks het huis uiteindelijk zelf te kopen, maar jaren later verkochten zij het tegen een opmerkelijk lage prijs.
Hoewel experts de waarde schatten op $4,5 miljoen, deed het stel het monumentale pand van de hand voor slechts $2,1 miljoen. Het landhuis telt zeven slaapkamers en wordt gekenmerkt door prachtige mahoniehouten vloeren die het warme licht van maar liefst acht open haarden reflecteren, wat een unieke en huiselijke sfeer oproept.
