Sie startete ihre Karriere, da war sie acht Jahre alt. Danach eroberte sie als gefeierter Teenie-Star ganz Deutschland. “Ich will nen Cowboy als Mann” – mit diesem Satz ist Gitte Haenning 1963 schlagartig berühmt geworden. Die heute 75-Jährige prägt in den 1980er Jahren mit ihren frechen Schlagern ein modernes Frauenbild. Das Interesse an anspruchsvoller Jazz- und Bluesmusik charakterisiert ihr gesamtes Schaffen. Das Geheimnis ihrer Jugendlichkeit besteht wohl darin, sich immer wieder neu zu erfinden.
