The cover that most people recognize this album by features red megaphones in a deserted area. This was a way to be ironic regarding the title of the album, which refers to masses of people. However, this was not the first design for this iconic record.

Designer Martyn Atkins had first proposed an orange megaphone with visible soundwaves on a white background. Some copies were printed with this design but never made it to the public. However, few have gotten into the hands of people in the industry and they’re invaluable merchandise to record dealers.
