Although their 2017 album The Rest of Our Life was praised by critics, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw ran into some trouble with its title track. The song, which was co-written by pop star Ed Sheeran, was the target of a plagiarism lawsuit by two Australian songwriters. In 2018, Sean Carey and Beau Golden filed a complaint against McGraw, Hill, and the song’s other writers, alleging that it constitutes a “note-for-note direct copying of original elements” of their track When I Found You. If a federal judge rules in the Australians’ favor, Tim and Faith may have to cough up some serious money in recompense.
