Elena Dementieva started out her career when she was still remarkably young. She started gaining popularity after competing among year-end top 10 players and winning $800K. With a span of almost two decades in the sports industry, Elena managed to take home 16 WTA titles and three ITF titles. It seems like Elena had planned her retirement perfectly because a year later, she married Maxim Afinogenov, a professional ice hockey player from Moscow with whom she had a child named Veronika. Elena ended her career holding the No.9 position in the world tennis rankings and had her final match at the 2010 WTA Tour Championships.
