She found a town with real buildings and real people. At first, she thought she was safe. But something felt off. No one spoke. No one blinked. Their smiles were frozen, too wide, and unmoving. A boy on a bike passed her three times, on the same path, with the same expression.

At the diner, every patron lifted empty forks to empty mouths. Not one plate had food, and not one glass had water. In the bathroom, she found mirrors, every single one covered except for one, which was slightly cracked. She looked in, and her reflection wasn’t staring back. It was turned to the side, watching something behind her.
