The Man with Too Many Teeth
Harper drove straight to the gas station they’d stopped at the night of the sighting. Same old pumps, same flickering lights. The man behind the counter looked at her too long, then said, “You saw it, didn’t you?” She froze. “Saw what?” He didn’t answer, just smiled. Except his mouth was too wide and had too many teeth.
Then he nodded toward the window. “It doesn’t come here unless it’s hungry.” Harper backed out slowly. As she left, he called after her without looking, “Don’t take the road by Red Rock tonight.” She wasn’t planning on it. But her GPS already had it queued.
