George Takei and Brad Altman – Together Since 1985

George Takei and Brad Altman’s love story began in the mid-1980s at the L.A. Frontrunners, an LGBTQ+ running club. George asked him to train him for his first marathon, sparking a partnership that remained private for 18 years until George publicly came out in 2005. They married in 2018.

Brad, initially a financial journalist, became George’s business manager, supporting his ventures in activism and entertainment. Together, they appeared on “The Newlywed Game” in 2009 as the first openly gay couple, winning $10K for charity. Their relationship and advocacy were the highlight of the 2014 documentary “To Be Takei,” offering insights into their life and commitment to LGBTQ+ rights.
