Sissy Spacek – Born in 1949

Sissy Spacek began her career as a singer before transitioning to acting. Her breakout role came in 1973’s “Badlands,” but it was her portrayal of the telekinetic teen in “Carrie” (1976) that catapulted her to stardom and earned her first Academy Award nomination. She eventually won the Oscar for Best Actress for “Coal Miner’s Daughter” (1980). Other notable films include “Missing” (1982), “The River” (1984), and “In the Bedroom” (2001), each earning her additional Academy Award nominations.

In 2024, Sissy supported her husband, production designer Jack Fisk, at the Oscars, celebrating nearly 50 years of marriage. She also participated in a private signing event, offering fans personalized autographs.
