Melissa Sue Anderson began her career as a child actress, playing Mary Ingalls on the NBC drama series ”Little House on the Prairie” (1974–1983). The role earned her a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

In 1990, she married television producer and screenwriter Michael Sloan, and they have two children. The family relocated to Canada in the early 2000s and became Canadian citizens in 2007. Despite an enviable career trajectory in showbiz, Melissa has shifted her focus from acting to motherhood, occasionally returning to the screen, such as in the 2006 miniseries ”10.5: Apocalypse.”
