Marla Gibbs, born Margaret Bradley, is a celebrated actress, singer, and producer whose career spans over seven decades. She gained widespread acclaim for her character of Florence Johnston, the sharp-witted maid on the CBS sitcom “The Jeffersons.” Her performance earned her five Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Marla also took on the lead role of Mary Jenkins in the NBC sitcom “227,” a series she also co-produced. Her portrayal of Mary Jenkins further solidified her status as a television icon. Marla’s contributions to television were honored in February 2025 when she received the Hollywood Legacy Award at the American Black Film Festival Honors.
