Bekannt wurde er auch durch seine Rolle in dem 1981 erschienenen Kultfilm „Das Boot“ von Wolfgang Petersen. Dort spielte er einen Funker und erwies sich so als Rollendarsteller in anderen Filmen, insbesondere in dem Film „Der große Bellheim“ von 1992. Darüber hinaus trat er oft in Theatern auf und veröffentlichte ein Buch mit dem Titel „Meine Freiheit nehm ich mir“. Der 69-Jährige bleibt seiner Schauspielkarriere treu und ist derzeit Hauptdarsteller in der Serie „Verbotene Liebe – Next Generation“. Auch privat machte er sich gut, da er seit 2019 mit einer deutlich jüngeren Frau verheiratet ist. Daraus schöpft er erneute Kraft, um noch weitere Rolle zu spielen!
