You Won’t Believe What People Were Doing and Wearing At Burning Man

Desert Through a Fly’s Eyes

Kirsten Berg’s Compound Eye was less about looking at art and more about being swallowed into it. A cluster of convex mirrors turned the playa into a trippy kaleidoscope, reflecting Burners at themselves in distorted, multiplied versions. The couple striking poses in front of it got multiple snapshots, each warped and bouncing at slightly different angles.

The effect was like stepping into an insect’s vision, only with more neon and dust. Every move created a ripple of reflections, turning even casual gestures into a choreographed performance. In a place already surreal, this installation made reality splinter into something even stranger.
