The desert has a way of making art feel bigger than it is, and this 2015 installation took full advantage. This mysterious sculpture appears like someone tried to build a tree but got distracted halfway through and decided to make it look like a giant hand giving the sky a high-five.
The weathered white surface makes it look ancient and mystical, as if archaeologists just dug up evidence. Then, the sandstorms swirling make the piece feel alive. People are probably having deep philosophical conversations about what it means while secretly wondering if it’s sturdy enough to climb on for photos.
