Russians Infiltrating Anti-Trump Rallies? Shocking Revelations About Russian ‘Troll Army’ That Will Send a Chill Down Your Spine
Russians interfering with American politics seem to be one of the most persistent conspiracy theories since the 1980s. According to new information that surfaced during the 2016 US elections, the Russians have chosen a new target. Private messages from a page that aims at black civil rights activists have revealed something that speaks volumes about a greater Russian effort.
Read On: Unsettling Facts That We Received From Various Sources
From what we have gathered, the BlackMattersUS Facebook page sent this message: “We’re holding a protest against Trump on Saturday,” to one of the activists who spoke at a previous rally held by a group in North Carolina.
The page also posted a banner for the “Charlotte Against Trump” rally which took place on November 19, 2016, along with a link to a Facebook event (the link is unavailable right now).
The page is just one of the 180 Social Media pages created by a shady St. Petersburg ’troll farm.’ It seems that activities of the ‘troll farm’ extend much beyond simple trolling. This latest incident proves that they actually lure unsuspecting activists of the US into events and rallies that are aimed at exploiting the American domestic conflicts.
As Facebook cracked down on the BlackMattersUS page, Russian media group RBC reported that the suspension was a part of a larger crackdown on all accounts linked to Russia. Andy Stone, a spokesperson for Facebook, said that he was not able to confirm whether that page was suspended as part of a cleanout effort. While private messages can still be seen by recipients, the page has been taken down.
Russians Exploiting the Inner Conflicts of American Society? Shocking FACTS Revealed!
The anti-Trump messages that the page used to pass around are in line with the page’s hidden strategy of manipulating existing social and political movements to meddle with the inner workings of American society. The anti-Trump messages also revealed the hideous agenda of the Russian social media army which aims to deepen the chasm between conflicting sides in the US.
It’s no secret that time and again Russians have exploited domestic American injustice throughout the decades via Russian interference campaigns. These misinformation efforts have historically attempted to worsen pre-existing tensions in American society and further polarize the American people.
The unnamed source who received the messages from BlackMattersUS had a strange feeling that the group was not really aiming at ending the racial injustice, as they infiltrated the disorganized protest movement after the shooting of a North Carolina native, Keith Lamont Scott, back in October 2016.
However, when the post-election rally took place, at least two people who delivered speeches at the Keith Lament Scott shooting protest march were also present at the “Charlotte Against Trump” protest. The fliers for the events – created by BlackmattersUS – carried their names. Also, at least one Charlotte Observer report confirmed their participation in the rally.
Charlotte attorney Kimberly Owens, one of these speakers, later revealed that the protest was open to all, which meant that anybody could speak. She wasn’t quite shocked when she realized that the event was probably backed by the Russians, as the event was, in fact, quite disorganized.
Questions That Still Await Answers: Who Was Behind BlackmattersUS Facebook Page?
Meanwhile, BlackmattersUS Facebook page has triggered a lot of questions that still await answers. Who actually operated those Social Media accounts? This question persists, as one of the activists disclosed that he would inform the Facebook page about various protest events and the anonymous admin of that page would approve or reject his pitches.
It was later discovered that the BlackmattersUS Twitter account was linked to a phone number that comes with a Russian ISD code. The Twitter account has been taken down but RBC has also identified at least two staff members who masqueraded as activists. One of those accounts has already been suspended, with the other one inactive since 2016.
BlackmattersUS also organized a second rally in November 2016 at Marshall Park in Charlotte. There’s even an article on the BlackMattersUS website that details the event, as well as links to a Change.org petition to North Carolina police to start a ‘hate-crime’ hotline. Charlotte Against Hate is the group that sponsors the petition. Charlotte Against Hate FB page has disappeared since. Also, in December of the same year, BlackmattersUS attempted to organize a third rally in New York.
Thankfully, Not Many People Are Influenced by the Russian-Backed Social Media Pages! The Proof Is Here!
“Trump won the Electoral College but is behind by almost 840,000 votes,” the description of Facebook page BM, an alias of BlackmattersUS reads. “Join us in the Streets to stop Donald Trump and his bigoted hateful agenda!”
However, the event was not much of a success. A total of 176 people were seen as “going” on the event page, but very few actually turned up. One of the protesters said that fifteen people, more or less, had actually turned up at the protest and then they joined another, completely unrelated protest at the Columbus Circle.
